Slogans like Kill India and Delhi Banega Khalistan were raised. India lodged a complaint regarding this, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ignored it. When anti-India slogans were being raised here, the Canadian police stood silent.

According to the report of City News, this referendum started on Sunday morning and continued till evening. Sikh people present in Alberta took part in it. Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s family came first to cast their vote. Let us tell you that Nijjar was murdered in Canada on 28 June 2023. Canada had accused India regarding this, since then there is a state of tension in the relations between India and Canada.

The mayor had to give a statement
After this event, there was a lot of uproar and questions were raised on the mayor as well. Regarding the referendum, Calgary’s Indian-Canadian mayor Jyoti Gondek said that it is not in her hands to stop it. Many activities take place in the municipal plaza because it is a public place. These events are not permitted or approved by us. She said that this is not something that we can control or monitor.

The temple was attacked
Just recently, Hindu temples were targeted in Canada. Khalistani extremists were behind this. India’s Prime Minister’s picture on the walls of Swaminarayan temple Narendra Modi Abusive language was also used about it. The Hindu American Foundation had raised objections to this. Canadian MP Chandra Arya had also shared some pictures regarding this, after which Gurpatwant Singh Pannu had also threatened to leave Canada.
